Monday Music: ∆ (alt-J)

13 August 2012

Change of pace for Monday, with the help of my new favorite band.

alt-j (∆)’s band name could use a little explanation first, pronounced “alt-j”, the delta sign is created when you hold down the alt key on your computer keyboard + press ‘J’ on a Mac computer. The delta sign, in mathematical equations:

∆ =  change.

Classified as “folk-step” the entire album is a change of pace + genre. Odd Future remixed one of the more popular tracks, “Fitzpleasure,” but “Breeze Blocks” stands-out for me.  You can stream their debut album on soundcloud, listed on their website.

“She may contain the urge to runaway, but hold her down with soggy clothes and breezeblocks.”

also available on iTunes.

*the violet pony, (to me) represents a change. Any change in your future?

Hair color = changed. Transitional ‘high summer’ wardrobe = changed. Career path = in need of change. Me = will never change.
