Winter Shades of White

26 November 2012

I’ve tried to break the “no white after Labor day” rule a few times this fall, but quickly revert back to my monochromatic ways, and by monochromatic I mean: black, very black + noir.

However, a couple of weeks ago a girlfriend of mine walked in strutting these amazing Madewell linen Chelsea boots paired with crisp ivory denim skinnies and I was sold.  Her ensemble was casual but elegant, clean and just what the fashion doctor ordered on a chilly overcast day.

When the temperature drops, I know many of us retreat to our closets in search of dark hues that promise to keep us warm, but I’m switching it up this winter and breaking the tired rules.

Bring on the winter whites:

throw a waffle knit sweater over almost anything for instant warmth. Don’t be afraid to mix+match textures + hues.
Dorothy Perkins, Studded Sweater by Asos, the splurge, JW Anderson

just a hint of black, OK – I couldn’t help myself. Slip on a pair of opaque tights + ankle boots, holler! Elizabeth and James Peplum Blouse with Maison Martin Margiela skirt, similar here. TopShop Jacquard Dress, Alice + Olivia dress

gold + cream, a match made in winter white heaven. Krystal’s outfit details here

kicked the boyfriend blazers out a few years ago, only to let them crawling back in. ChicNova with pockets,White Boyfriend Blazer and the classic Alexander Wang Smoking Blazer. (no smoking allowed. ick!)
